Comparing and contrasting Cinematography and editing in the 400 Blows and Citizen Kane.
I was going to give you a choice of topics, but this question has many choices as far as your answer goes. Basically, I want you to compare a couple of contrasting scenes in Citizen Kane, and in the 400 Blows. Explore what you feel was the intention in each scene and how each director approached that intention in a likely unique and different way. Remember, Citizen Kane was highly stylized and overproduced whereas the 400 Blows was paired down and more intimate. Your answer should likely address that. So, two or three scenes from each, contrasted against one another illustrating how they do what they do, but in very different ways focusing specifically on cinematography and editing. HINT: Think for example of the opening sequence in the 400 Blows and the opening sequence in Citizen Kane. Don’t try and do too much! Less is more.
