Question 2:

The purposes of this course and our assignments, a POLICY is a set of guidelines or procedural steps to get from one beginning point-of-reference to whatever the intended goal is.  If the policy is suggesting a change to current procedures, hopefully the change will be an improvement (not always – there may be unintended consequences). Policies can be at different levels of the institutional, professional, or even political landscape – including policies at the local, country, or an international consortium of countries.  

Select ONE policy and provide your analysis, given the resources in the text/readings and your own perspectives and knowledge of the topic. For the homework you are also welcome to use policies that are not specifically mentioned – such as military, NGO/IGO, or others you may be interested in.  And I do NOT expect you to access the original source of the policy – unless it’s available to you.  

 Analyze one of the more global COVID-19 policies, such as the WHO prequalification guidelines found at this link:

The above link also conveniently includes a link to the original 72-page WHO Procedural Report. However, for our class purposes, the Key Elements in the link above should be enough for your review.

As previously mentioned, policies can be at any level of the health care system so you may even select a policy at a more department or clinic level.  If you have problems identifying a policy that is of interest to you, please contact me and I’m happy to assist. Or you can forward your selection to me for review if you are unsure.  Just don’t get frustrated in your search – it should not be too difficult!

Your analysis should list all of the following items 1-6, with your individual response to each:

3. Leadership involved (institution, professional org. etc. that developed the policy):
4. Population impacted by the policy / key stakeholders:
5. Do you think the policy is sufficient to achieve its goals? Why or why not?
6. Do you have any recommendation(s) for improvement?

• References in APA formatting are expected for citing your sources. 
• Total word count per question 300-400 words, not including references.
