This week, you have two different content areas for your discussion question. A paragraph for each area. Both paragraphs need to be science-informed responses using references outside of the course (paragraph = 8 sentences)
First paragraph: Select only 2 specific physiological effects of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder that occur during prenatal development, and then describe how those effects cause specific problems later in life. Points will only be given for specific examples, e.g., Let’s say the consequence you select is the head size. The head may never fully develop during prenatal development and the child is born with a small head (not talking about the brain, just head size), then discuss how this characteristic (small head size) effects the child throughout development to adulthood. Don’t use this example. Make sure you provide in-text citations with corresponding reference list. Use science-based resources only.
Second Paragraph: Answer the question. Is there a safe amount of alcohol intake during pregnancy? Support your answer with science-based citations/references. Remember all paragraphs are define as complete sentences.
Before submitting check and make sure the two physiological effects are very specific. Most students lose points because they end up not answering the question because they talk broadly about FASD effects rather than zeroing in on two physiological effects and developing them in detail. I hope this helps keep you on track.

What is the difference between healthy liver versus a cirrhotic liver. See this video clip from Dr. Drew. A picture is worth a thousand words: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Alcohol+Effects+On+Body+and+Mind+dr+drew&&view=detail&mid=9FB6A88B97E0870B238C9FB6A88B97E0870B238C&FORM=VRDGAR If you have got to this point in reviewing the course learning resources — yeah. I love this short powerful video on the liver. For 2 extra credit points that can only be applied to one of the three main projects (experiential 1, 2, and/or research project, go to the introduction section, titled Drew’s Liver and confirm that you read the Learning resources this week and viewed this video.
