Your  initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until  Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect  both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses.  Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon  above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

     Twenty-Five Techniques of Situational Prevention       

Prior to beginning this Discussion Forum, examine the Problem Analysis Chart (Step 8) in Crime Analysis for Problem Solvers in 60 Small Steps (assigned reading for Week 2) and the Twenty Five Techniques of Situational Prevention (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.  chart. In an initial post of at least 400 words, identify a crime or  criminal issue that you believe has a law enforcement solution. Note  that the recommended resources include certain pages from the National  Crime Prevention Council website that include content on diversity  awareness. Using content from this source, or from other relevant  credible professional, government, or scholarly sources, identify how a  crime prevention technique could address diversity awareness objectives.

• Propose a potential solution to the crime or criminal issue that you  identified, in terms of reducing the possibility of the crime  occurring, and in terms of addressing diversity awareness objectives.
• Discuss data from a credible or scholarly source that provides  insight on the effectiveness of methods that have been used to address  the crime or criminal issue that you identified. It may be helpful to  think about how such findings might relate to your proposed solution.  Note that this source must be distinct from sources used in the written  assignment for Week 3. You may use this source as a resource for your  Final Project.
• Explain how methods for your proposed solution could effectively  reduce the possibility of the crime occurring and address diversity  awareness objectives.

Guided Response: Respond and provide feedback to at  least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. After reviewing the  initial post of your classmates, select another potential solution from  the Twenty Five Techniques of Situational Prevention discussion and  discuss a complementary program that addresses the same issue identified  in their posts which would give a complimentary and more comprehensive  program. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the  week to promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this  discussion. Challenge your peers by asking a question that may cause  them to add additional information about their responses in the initial  response. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m.  (Mountain Time) on Day 7, and respond with robust dialogue to anyone who  replies to your initial post. Each guided response should be a minimum  word of 200 words.
