Topic #1: Los Deportes y Pasatiempos en el Mundo Hispano

What is the most important sport in the Spanish-speaking world? In the United States? In the world?

What role do leisure activities have in my life?

What do leisure time activities tell us about the values of a culture?

What does leisure time look like around the world?

How does what I choose to do in my free time define who I am?

Topic #2: Las Universidades en el Mundo Hispano

What makes a “good” education? Is education equally accessible around the world?

How do admissions exams in the Spanish-speaking countries compare to standardized tests required by many schools in the United States?

Why do many colleges and universities require students take general education courses prior to entering courses specific to programs of study?

How does the grading system described compare to the one that is used at your university? What type of grading system would you prefer?

How can schools encourage creativity and innovation?

Write: Choose one of the topics, and respond to the questions provided. Your response should be at least 300 words in length in order to provide sufficient detail and to demonstrate critical thought with respect to these cultural practices and gifts to society.

Share alternate views, provide personal experiences as they relate to the topic, expand upon ideas, or provide questions to encourage further elaboration of the topic.
