Your final essay in this class is a literary analysis. An analysis is an interpretation, NOT a summary. You will have to analyze Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried, offering your opinion (without using “I”-only third person) without just giving a plot summary of what happened in the novel. You will have to use supporting text from the novel in conjunction with your statements. I do not have a set amount of quotations I would like for you to use; however, you CANNOT have any block quotations (quotations that are four or more typed lines).
. Comment on three characters’ loss of innocence in the novel, more specifically how these characters move from innocence of war to experience of the ravages of Vietnam.
