Background: You have been selected as a candidate for a counseling position in a community based organization working as a delinquency prevention counselor. The clients have been described to you as 10-13 year-old children (male and female) who have already committed minor offenses. You would be assigned a small caseload of children to counsel. Your goal is to help prevent further offenses. The Human Resources department of this organization has asked you to submit a 400 word (minimum) letter describing why you would be the best candidate for this position.     

Directions: Using what you have learned in this module, please write this letter. Be sure to include elements from the readings for this module (significance of self and what counselors have in common-generic skills). You can write this assignment in letter format to your instructor. You should, however, include a minimum of two academic sources (including the textbook) to support your work.

This paper must:

• have a thesis statement (statement of purpose/intent), must indicate the topics to be covered
• use ONLY professional, objective language. Use objective, formal, not conversational tone/style
• use APA style
• use direct quotes sparingly – work on paraphrasing and appropriate citations for the paraphrased information
